A typical Chinese breakfast is still extremely satisfying to me. "You Tiao," the quintessential Chinese Long Doughnut, is a perennial favorite from Malaysia to France; it's a deep-fried dough stick that's crispy on the outside and airy inside, often enjoyed dipped in soy milk or porridge. I appreciate the accompanying sweet "Dou Jiang" because it complements the savoriness and egginess of the version made here very well; "Dou Jiang" is a sweet soy milk that's a traditional and comforting beverage, often paired with "You Tiao" for a classic breakfast. We both love their "Cha Sao Bao" here because of the juicy BBQ pork filling and the feathery dough; "Cha Sao Bao" is a steamed bun filled with sweet and savory barbecue pork, known for its tender filling encased in soft, fluffy dough. We find ourselves ordering this almost on every visit. The main reason we come here today is Vanessa's craving for their Fatty Beef Tomato Soup Noodle. The noodles are cooked al dente, served in a tangy and savory tomato soup, and topped with slices of tender, fatty beef; this dish combines al dente noodles with a rich, sour, and savory tomato-based broth, accented by slices of marbled beef for a comforting and hearty meal. We both didn't grow up with this dish, but our Chinese DNA was instantly drawn to this popular Northern Chinese dish. People have different preferences, but we love "Bao Shi Yi." It's heartwarming to see Chinese families bringing their little children here to experience a traditional Chinese breakfast instead of the common sugar cereal or Pop-Tarts. I find their food comforting and well-executed. It's always going to be one of our favorite places to enjoy a traditional Chinese breakfast.

Noodle are fresh made. Bao are made with care (ingredients inside the bao is not just some sweet hoisin sauce and steam it) . Limited menu but rather have food with heart and care vs too many choices. Good for breakfast , brunch. Will come again to try others. Staff came by couple of times to ask if everything is ok, which is nice. Utensils and tableware are all takeaway ready. No reusable tableware.

Came here today on MLK day and on a cold freezing morning. I was surprise to see so many people here especially since it is freezing cold today. They welcomed me with warmth through hospitality and food. Initially when walking in, the ambiance of the store is unique. It is very modern and aesthetic. Me and my cousin order a lot of food just to try a variety of food. We got dumplings, soup dumpling, noodles and Chinese doughnuts. Prob a bit to much for 2 people but we ate it up. The only two things I wish that happened is I wish the food was a little hotter. I don't know if it was just freezing cold and snowing in Houston Texas. Second thing is I wish they used less plastic. Overall I had a great experience here and food was yummy and filling. Definitely will come back to visit.

I visited for breakfast around 8am on Sunday. There were a few people there and things got busier around 9am as we were leaving. You order at the counter, sit down for your order, wait for it to be delivered, and pay at the register. I think this is quite an interesting way to dart up this system. Perhaps some people order more food after they pay. We ordered the pancakes, chive pockets, hamburger, and when I asked for a noodle recommendation - the staff suggested the beef noodle soup. All items were excellent. The service was friendly and fast. She remembered everything we ordered along with providing me with a to-go container and bag. I suppose she knew we couldn't finish all the food. The noodles and beef - extremely tender beef that was packed with flavor and was not overly fatty. I loved the sprinkling of cilantro and green onions. It also came with Bok Choy. Mildy spicy. The pancake was a tasty egg and flour with onions and a hot dog. I liked how the texture was slightly slippery and it was a little hard to eat since you couldn't pick it up easily. Be dry refreshing clear breakfast taste. Chive pockets - slightly too oily, very condensed with chives. Good flavor and easy to eat. Very large - probably 6" or so. Chinese hamburger - a rough, slightly crunchy bun and bits of pork and green onion. Good flavor and a light meal. I liked it a a lot and the pork tasted baked or slightly crunchy. Will definitely come back. Prices were average and have increased by $1-2 compared to older Yelp phot

When I go to a city with a large Asian population, I'm always on the lookout for a good Chinese style breakfast place. Bao Shi Yi is the place and they absolutely nailed it! This will probably be my go to Chinese breakfast each time I come back to visit Houston. Service is fast and efficient and the people working here are friendly and helpful in helping you navigate the menu. Ambience is fantastic as well, with a combo of modern and classic elements. As for food, they have all the classics, plus some more unique items. The soup dumplings are so pillowy and filled with broth and the scallion pancakes are fragrant and crisp. The unique items have to be the jujube buns and the salted savory tofu curds. Really really excellent. The jujube buns are fluffy and have that sweet and fruity taste without being overly sweet. Y'all do a fantastic job and I can't wait to come back for more :)

It was my hungriest morning to come to get some breakfast at Bao Shi Yi 包十一 Bun House at Sterling Kingdom Plaza, the smallest strip mall in Houston Chinatown. Parking has been challenging during weekends. So, my quick visit was during midweek. Menu is simple enough to read from the overhead board. Service was quick. I ordered noodles, instead of traditional Chinese breakfast because it was a almost lunchtime. It was funny to see the beef noodle soup 牛肉面 served in a giant takeout bowl. Oh yeah, it was bottom-up delicious. But the scallion pancake 葱油饼 was so so. I saw the landlord brought family to eat lunch here. "Are you here to collect rent", I jocked and he laughed. He said his wife wanted to have soupy dumplings. Ah, that's what I'll get next time.
